This is 50/50 Good for some owners and bad for us technicians but I hear that many folks mess up their furnace and ac unit because they think is as easy as watching a tech dude on you tube. Folks , by just watching videos I can probably do “ a heart surgery “ or fly and airplane, or just watch Armstrong Training and do it my self and just go to the moon. Is more than one thing that can be wrong with your unit. My grind just went to a house when the owner damaged the parts on the condenser and some part in the furnace. Is not that easy , is not on thing , there to many things to know and more to learn from with time.

Bro, I don't know your name other than DIY HVAC Guy. Thank you. I was able to follow your advice/guidance and install a brand new Goodman HVAC unit. I chose the furnace and AC unit instead of the heat pump option. I had a Rheem system in my home for years. Nothing against Rheem. Don't think they are a terrible company. The darn thing never worked correct. After the original installer came to my home they could never figure out what was wrong with my unit. The evap coil would freeze up during summer use. The heat pump never quite heated the house during the winter. When the heat pump stopped, we use the emergency heat. Overtime the coils for the electric heat broke down and fell apart. We had the Rheem system since 1995. Good run for a half baked installed system.

This is an amazing design. You're right. When I lived in South Korea, everybody had air conditioners that you put up near the ceiling. They were pretty long units, and cool air drifted down towards you. There was usually a tube that went out of window so that the water could flow easily, and this gravity thing was facilitated by the high placement of the air conditioners. They work perfectly in any room as long as you had a window.

Will a hard start kit, such as SPP6 or 521, disconnect from the run capacitor by its own relay after starting the compressor? If not, the extra capacitance from the kit may harm the compressor as presented in ruclips.net/video/5i5jmGBGKxI/видео.html. If yes, then it has only the benefit to reduce the stress during starting without any drawback so that it should be installed on any new or old AC to reduce its starting load on the compressor and extend its life expectance. Is this true?

Will the failure of a hard or soft start kit causes the compressor from starting? If it acts only as an assistant, then the compressor should be able to start from its run capacitor after its failure. Is this true?

What is the purpose of the red hose (high side) connection in this example ? Do we even use that at all or is it just used to view the pressure? Can you skip connecting the high pressure red line completely if just adding refrigerant for a band aid and don’t need exacts ? The yellow hose should be able to push the refrigerant from the cylinder into the blue suction side correct ?

Can a hard start kit still reduce the starting amp requirement from a generator even though it reduces only about 50% instead about 7% for a soft start kit? My Generac 24KW standby generator would dim lights during AC started. A hard start kit should reduce its loads to avoid dimming the lights. Is this true?

great video - I clean my outdoor unit myself cause the company that installed my new system 3 years ago always tells me my condenser looks clean and they don't look at the air handler much either..... so I learn a lot from you and you have become my internet service go to guy !

I know you can clean most of the dust and debris from the outside but in Arizona where we are dry and dusty, I still prefer to take the top fan off and clean from the inside out. It does get dirty inside. But for most homeowners, just cleaning the outside will be a tremendous help in their cooling efficiency. Thanks for the video.

Why…why is it so difficult to get in and clean stuff like this? Who designs something so poorly? Seems like there’s a better way. Especially living in Florida where we have to clean out our a/c lines several times a year.

Great Vid! I already kinew this but its a reminder to do mine again . So Cal 90 percent of homes drain into a wye branch tail piece at a sink , then we dump secondary over a window. Im in plumbing but facinated with hvac as well. I use warm water and bleach

My A/C started blowing warm air....and it's HOT in Texas! I scheduled (3) A/C repairs companies to evaluate. 1st guy shows up, smells like alcohol, wants to quote me a totally new unit before he even looked at anything. I asked him to please leave. lol. 2nd guy says "it's probably your capacitor". Replaces it, checks coolant level...done. $380 bucks. Cancelled 3rd guy.

Good video. Personally, I don't see any of these topics as being total myths outright. It's just that there are so many facets and conditions to these topics that most people (contractors and homeowners alike) just adopt absolute philosophies one way or the other, rather than bother with the details. That's when it starts to become myth.

IMO, If you’re caught trying to take advantage of someone like that you should lose your license and be censured from the business. No matter what your profession is.

Something I use the coil cleaner on is my old, basic refrigerator coils. I cant really rinse it but a light spray made a difference!

Living in a very dusty farm area I think I will continue to remove my sides/ fin slats. I just really like being able to see all sides of the condenser while cleaning. Thank you for the video.

The condensate drain pipe on the outside of the house has a small elbow extension pointing up. Is that right?

Goodman has a 10 year warranty on their compressors so the owner of the Goodman should of been covered. 🤔

Hard start kits help generators run house hvac units as well. Stored energy blasting the power hungry compressor puts less strain on your generator. The running amps should be the same with both kits, right? That's what I was hoping you'd go over.

So I have 2 older Tappan (Nordyne) units with microchannel fins. I know many chemicals say don’t use on microchannel units. I found one that says it’s safe but I’m a little hesitant. Any tips for those types? Nobody really covers that on RUclips.

I just cleaned my condenser for the summer season. I have to lift my fan to remove leaves inside plugging up my weep holes. But I always sweat bullets afraid that I will pull fan wires or put a hole in condenser coils. So, I think those are good tips as usual. Being a safety professional, liked the safety message too!

I got a DEhumidifier for my home. By lowering the humidity I can keep the temperature at 75/76 degrees and very comfortable . With a fan it is very cool or maybe too cool. Do research on brands and sizes. I am very pleased

I have saved a few of my neighbors units from this very thing, i could hear the units trying to suck air as if they had asthma they were so clogged. Even made a few green backs cleaning a couple out for people. Cottonwood trees are killers for any manufacturer's units.

I have a cottonwood tree down the block, so I have to do weekly hose-downs with just water, to keep the seed-film off the coils. I do a deeper clean in the fall, with coil cleaner for winterizing...
